“I am an emerging opera director interested in reimagining canonical works for contemporary audiences. Shaped by my perspective as an Asian immigrant artist, my practice focuses on the staging of operatic storytelling, particularly how libretti and inherited narratives around gender, race, and power can be reworked for the present. I am drawn to opera’s emotional scale, and to creating experiences where music and theatre meet with maximum impact for contemporary audiences.
I grew up in Shenzhen, a city bordering Hong Kong, and later lived in Shanghai and New Taipei City before moving to London. I enjoy experiencing different cultural contexts and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. In my everyday life, I enjoy singing karaoke, cooking and searching for vintage pieces.”
