We run two main groups of training programmes for singers, directors, music staff, stage managers and set and costume designers – the Serena Fenwick programme and our summer programmes.
To take for these programmes you’ll need to submit an application via our online portal, BYO hub.
serena fenwick programme
Our flexible and tailored Serena Fenwick programme, in partnership with Garsington Opera, could be for you if you can demonstrate both the potential to succeed in your chosen field and a specific need for a career boost. You're especially encouraged to apply if you're unable to pursue the ‘usual’ career development routes for financial, personal or other reasons.

summer programmes
Our summer programmes are a group of full time production-based programmes that take place in in July and August. Working with your peers, with full support from BYO and a team of established professional mentors, you'll great a large-scale, professional-level opera production. Along the way you'll pick up valueable experience and skills, create an extensive professional network, and have your work seen by the public and industry figures.

Opera directing programme (creator strand, for advanced candidates to create their own work)
