“I am interested in works of scale that pit the personal against the political, that show how the inner lives of people are affected by the world around them. Epic and intimate at once, opera does these stories best. I also enjoy working with and challenging the canon, especially through feminist reinterpretations of classics.
I grew up in New York City, where my first experiences of live performance were big Broadway musicals. Outside of directing, I play piano and love writing, sewing, hiking and canoeing.”
