“Though I’m a visual artist, it’s often music that most inspires me. I started my career in filmmaking, and working with musicians and dancers as a videographer made me want to create the worlds that surround their performances. That took me into prop-making for theatre - and now set design, with opera bringing together my love of music and visual world-building. Alongside my set design and prop-making work, my personal art practice explores heritage and memory through illustration and textiles.
I grew up in Mantua, the home of the opera Rigoletto, in northern Italy. I moved to the UK for my studies and have made my life here since. Outside of work I love listening to jazz and finding inspiration for my art at galleries, particularly the V&A.”
