2016 Summer Season announced

BYO is pleased to announce another exciting Summer Season with two 20th Century British operas. Owen Wingrave, Benjamin Britten's evocative expression of his commitment to pacifism, will be presented alongside Malcolm Williamson's rarely performed English Eccentrics, after the book by Edith Sitwell.

Information and application forms for singers wishing to audition for BYO's 2016 Summer Season and/or Opera Workshops are now available.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Tuesday 8 December.

Denis Coe

It is with very great sadness that we announce the passing of British Youth Opera's much loved, inspirational and visionary Founder, Denis Coe.

Denis will be hugely missed by us all. Full tributes to this remarkable man will follow, but for the moment our thoughts and sympathies are with his children and their families.

New BYO Music Director announced

British Youth Opera is delighted to announce the appointment of Lionel Friend as Music Director. Lionel will bring his wealth of experience and expertise to the company to work as part of the Executive team alongside David Balcombe (Executive Director) and Stuart Barker (Director of Training and Productions).
